Wassand Hall, walled garden at the end of June,

Plein air oil on canvas board 12 x 10 inch
A wonderful summer day, very hot with little breeze. A visit to Wassand Hall is always a pleasure and today we had access to the walled garden using a key to open the heavy oak door, ( thankyou Sheila for sending us the key so quickly! ). Having produced a view of another part of the garden, and with this one, I think it might be a little project to record more views. On the right of this path is a pleached hedge of lime which forms a square enclosing a central fountain and lawn. This path actually surrounds this central area as one of four side creating four avenues, each with lovely deep  borders as I have tried to show here. A path to the left leads through the wall and into a larger area used for vegetables and where, on open days, delicious cakes can be enjoyed. Hope you like it.
